Privacy
We collect as little as we can, and only to run the site and stop duplicate or fake reviews.
What we store
- Your reviews: venue, loo type, which restroom it was in (men’s, women’s or unisex: about the loo, not you), rating, answers, text and time.
- A device cookie: a random id that lets you edit or delete your own reviews without an account.
- Scrambled identifiers: one-way keyed hashes of your device id, IP address and basic browser settings. We can’t turn them back into the originals; we only compare them to spot repeat reviews.
- If you sign in with Google: your Google account id, email and name. Reviews you posted signed out on the same device become your account’s reviews: they show your public name with a Verified badge instead of the random alias, and you can edit or delete them from any device.
- Your public name: the name shown on your reviews.
- Page view counts: a daily tally of how often each page is opened. To count each visitor once a day, we keep the scrambled device id, browser settings and IP address next to the page for two days, then delete them. The counts themselves say nothing about who visited.
What is public
Your reviews and your public name are visible to everyone.
- Not signed in: your public name is a random alias that CityLoo gives your device (like “Sneaky Flusher #4821”), the same on all your reviews and different from everyone else’s.
- Signed in with Google: your public name starts as your Google first name. Your surname, email address and profile photo are never shown. You can replace your first name with a nickname at any time in your account, and the change applies to all your reviews.
We don’t store raw IP addresses, don’t use advertising trackers, and don’t sell data.
Your rights
You can edit or delete any review you wrote from the same device or account. If you signed in, you can delete your account, which removes it and all your reviews. For anything else, email our Grievance Officer at grievance@cityloo.in (details on the grievances page).
Cookies
We use two essential cookies: the device cookie, and a sign-in cookie if you sign in. There are no analytics or marketing cookies.
